Victim Support Scotland - Support for Families Bereaved by Crime Service
The Support for Families Bereaved by Crime team are here to provide emotional and practical support to families living in Scotland following a murder or culpable homicide. Their key workers are specially trained to help with immediate practical tasks and questions you may have after losing a loved one to crime. This includes, assisting with funeral arrangements and accessing financial assistance. They can help families to navigate and know what to expect from the criminal justice system. They will help you to contact organisations and provide timely, consistent information. They will listen to you when you need to talk and provide links to specialist services such as counselling or trauma therapy. They provide person centred support to family members aged 12+ whenever the family feel ready for support, from days after the crime to much further down the line.
