Our Team
Welcome From Our Chair, James Normand
As Chair of Trustees, I am proud to support AtaLoss because I have seen both the scale of need and the strength of our response. Every year, millions face the pain and many challenges of bereavement, in a nation where the subject has been taboo.
Too many lack support and the impact is profound—on health, families, workplaces and communities. Our founder, Yvonne Tulloch, knows this first-hand. Her story shaped our mission: to address the nation’s bereavement gap. Having been devastatingly widowed herself she determined to ensure that no one in the UK is left unsupported in bereavement, with its potential for damaging consequences. That resolve drives our mission today. Almost everyone will be bereaved sooner or later.
At AtaLoss, we believe everyone in the UK should have access to timely, holistic bereavement support to rebuild their lives for a healthy future. By combining raised awareness, signposting and local peer support, we are pioneering a new model of timely, holistic help, with regained community care. By supporting the 85%+ who could navigate grief without therapists we are freeing up NHS clinical care services and addressing bereavement support as a public health priority.
We have the model. We have the proof. Please support us in our cause.
