The Matthew Elvidge Trust was formed by the parents of Matthew Elvidge took his own life, aged just 23, after a very short period of anxiety and depression. The main objective of the Trust is to increase awareness and understanding of the importance of wellbeing and good mental health and ensure that everyone and particularly young people. The trust also aims to reduce the stigma of mental illness and fund and support organisations that work in the fields of suicide prevention.

People bereaved or affected by suicide are not, proactively, offered support and therefore, in 2013, the Trust founded and funded the Support after Suicide Partnership, which has a Vision that ‘everyone bereaved or affected by suicide should be offered appropriate and timely support’.
