Escaping Victimhood is a Birmingham based charity that provides unique, supportive residential workshops for people whose lives have been disrupted by the trauma of series crime. This type of bereavement differs from other bereavements because of the unexpected violence associated with the death, and the involvement of the criminal justice system, and sometimes the media, which often adds to the trauma.

People who have been affected by murder, manslaughter, sexual assault, culpable road death or other violent crime are welcome to attend the 3-4 day workshops on offer - details are on the website. They take place in the lovely setting of Woodbrooke Georgian mansion, Selly Oak with good food, relaxing surroundings and experienced professional support on hand.

During the workshops, attendees will learn to understand the impact of trauma and how they may have been affected, spend time with others who have experienced similar traumas, learn relaxing therapies to help with the fall out of trauma, receive one to one support with trained professionals and partake in creative activities such as photography and art.

Escaping Victimhood is an approved provider for the National Homicide Service and their facilitators are all experts in their field.
